1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
Just a short flight away from Manila lies my lively hometown in the Philippines, Bacolod City, fondly known as 'The City of Smiles.' This vibrant spot is famous for the MassKara Festival, a dazzling bash where everyone wears beaming masks. To soak up all the fun, pop by in October, especially during the third week, and dive headfirst into the festivities. Snap a selfie in your own joyful mask to capture the magic!
2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
Concealed within my closet lie abundant treasures: a wedding album that seems to transcend time, capturing moments from bygone eras, and my mother's mystical jade ring, a symbolic heirloom bestowed upon me as I transitioned into adulthood. The album narrates stories of enduring love, while the ring whispers age-old wisdom, serving as a compass through life's intricate pathways.
3.What do you love to cook and why?
My family adores the spring rolls I prepare, filled with either chicken or vegetables. It's a pleasure to watch my children take part enthusiastically in their preparation. Adobo, a traditional Filipino dish, is another favorite, always pleasing with its ideal blend of vinegar and soy sauce. This cherished recipe, treasured from my childhood, is now being perfected by my children as they hone their culinary skills and enjoy its flavorful taste.
4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
Time is a valuable commodity. The prospect of gaining an additional hour each day presents a unique opportunity to balance our hectic schedules and share meaningful moments with my family. Our time together holds significant value, whether engaged in shared interests or savouring moments of stillness, enriching our bond regardless of the activity.
5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
In my role as a special education teacher, I have faced numerous challenges. These have ranged from handling the aftermath of a child's sudden projectile vomiting in the classroom while a colleague was away during lunch break, to leading the evacuation of students from the therapy pool after a student defecated in the water, and addressing a serious case of head lice in a student which required immediate communication with the parents for a resolution.
